Join the Sussex Cattle Society this September for a relaxed, behind-the-scenes farm walk and prize giving at Montague Farm, home of the 2026 National Show Champion.

Event overview

We’re inviting members, breeders, supporters and anyone with an interest in native beef cattle to Montague Farm, Hankham, Pevensey, East Sussex (BN24 5BB) for a special farm walk and prize giving hosted by the Montague Herd by kind permission of Mr M Hole.

The event takes place on Sunday 6th September 2026, with the day starting at 11 am.

See the 2026 National Show Champion

Visitors will have the chance to see the Sussex Cattle Society’s 2026 National Show Champion at home, along with the wider herd, and hear the story behind their success in the show ring.

This is a great opportunity to view cattle in their working environment, talk to the breeder about bloodlines, management and preparation, and pick up ideas for your own herd or future show aspirations.

What to expect on the day

The farm walk will take you around Montague Farm’s grazing and housing, with commentary on breeding decisions, grassland management and how Sussex cattle fit into the system.

Following the walk, we’ll gather for the Society’s prize giving, celebrating members’ achievements over the past year and recognising the stock and people behind the rosettes.

Food, tickets and booking

To secure your place, please contact the Sussex Cattle Society office in advance so we can confirm numbers for catering and ensure everyone is well looked after.
